He oversees menu development, kitchen operations, and culinary execution for catered events across the Indiana University campus and the Bloomington, Ind., community. Raised on his grandparents’ farm, Chef Bueno developed an early appreciation for fresh ingredients, hard work, and the farm-to-table connection that continues to influence his approach to catering today.
Chef Bueno earned a Bachelor of Science in sports administration with minors in management and entrepreneurship from Ball State University, but cooking was his calling. Growing up around family-run restaurants introduced him to hospitality early, and what began as a post-college opportunity in Bloomington quickly became his culinary career
As Chef de Cuisine for Indiana University Catering, Chef Bueno leads the team responsible for delivering high-quality food and seamless service for corporate catering, wedding receptions, university conferences, and campus events.
He works closely with the IU Catering team and clients to create menus tailored to each event, whether it’s a formal wedding reception, executive meeting, alumni event, or large university gathering.
His leadership ensures that every catered event reflects the quality, consistency, and professionalism expected from Indiana University’s official catering service.
Chef Bueno started his culinary career in Bloomington as a line cook. He quickly learned the ropes, building a strong foundation in restaurant operations and team leadership that eventually led to a position as Executive Chef and General Manager, then Corporate Chef for a hospitality group, overseeing culinary operations and menu development across multiple restaurant locations.
He won both the Golden Spatula and People’s Choice awards at the Bloomington Chefs’ Challenge. Chef Bueno went on to serve as Corporate Chef for Endeavor Hospitality Group,
Chef Bueno’s experience includes high-volume food production, multi-unit restaurant leadership, corporate and wedding catering, menu development, and kitchen team training.
At IU Catering, Chef Bueno focuses on developing seasonal catering menus that highlight fresh ingredients, creative presentation, and reliable execution for events of all sizes.
He partners with local farms and regional food suppliers whenever possible to support the local food community while maintaining the quality expected from professional event catering.
Chef Bueno’s leadership philosophy emphasizes mentorship, strong culinary standards, and continuous improvement across the IU Catering team.
